JRR Tolkien betonte immer wieder, dass er zwar deutscher Abstammung ist (Tollkühn-Familie aus Sachsen übersiedelte nach England vor über 200 J), er sich aber wirklich eher mit der Heimat der Suffields (der Familie seiner Mutter) verbunden fühlte. Die Suffields kamen aus Evesham in Worcestershire.

Das Tal von Evesham liegt südlich von Birmingham und ist in England bekann als Obstanbaugebiet.

Ich glaube, dass aus dieser Herkunft Tolkien's Liebe zur Natur, Bäumen und Landschaft herrührte.

"The Shire"- die Heimat der Hobbits - ist ein Synonym für diese Landschaft.

Buckland, welches ein bekannter Name in der Hobbit-Geschichte ist, ist ein Dorf bei Broadway - das ist aber sicherlich ein Zufall.

JRR Tolkien always pointed out that although he is a descendant of a German Family that moved to England 200 years earlier, he feels his true origin comes from the Suffield (his mother's) part of the family. The Suffields came from Evesham in Worcestershire.

The Vale of Evesham is south of Birmingham. It is famous for fruit growing due to its favourite climate and fertile soil.

I believe Tolkien's love for nature, trees and the countryside originates here.

The Shire, the home country of the hobbits, could well be located here.

Buckland which plays a part in the Hobbit history is a village near Broadway. But this is just coincidence.
